Today we decorated our Arabic names. I spray painted mine gold and bronze and used black paint to outline it. It was my turn to speak about an inspirational woman from Islamic history today. I spoke about Umm Sulaym and how she was a beautiful role model as a Muslim woman, wife and mother. She was not prepared to endanger her faith and the upbringing of her children wealth or luxury, however tempting.
She was devoted to the Prophet and dedicated her son Anas to her service. She took the responsibility of educating her children and she played an active part in public life, sharing with other Muslims the hardships and joys of building a community and living for the pleasure of Allah.
